It’s a shame but really nice bed and breakfast hotels are no longer in abundance.Great staff clean rooms ,warm throughoutclassic not modern but that was part of the charm we wanted a taxi and the reception organised this on time.Breakfast and waitress service were excellent we would stay again

Staff were very welcoming the hotel is immaculately clean and well decorated in a traditional style. Bed was comfortable everything you need in the room for a short stay. Breakfast was excellent very good choices all waitress service freshly cooked hot food.

Super friendly staff and super clean hotel. We can honestly say that the Saxonville offers a 5 star stay. The food is mouth watering and cooked to perfection. We weren't expecting the wonderful warm welcome and we only stayed one night. This hotel in my opinion is the best in Whitby. We can't wait to come back to the Saxonville.

This hotel is a great place to stay whilst visiting Whitby. It’s spotlessly clean and extremely well kept. All the staff are super friendly too, which was lovely. It was bitterly cold when we visited but our room was beautifully warm when we got back. Breakfast was great and the dining room was just charming. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat. Well done to all the staff that make Saxonville Hotel such a treasure!

A very clean and comfortable,traditional hotel, we loved the large spacious double room had a great night's sleep and we were welcomed on the morning by table service and a great choice for breakfast. The hotel is in a brilliant location with a picturesque walk down to Whitby town and all the amenities, restaurants and things to do. We have just come back from a four day stay at The Saxonville and had the most lovely time so thank you so much everyone for the lovely hospitality..to the fantastic chef/chefs whose meals are absolutely faultless as always and to Alison , Amy and the girls that delivered them..they all work so hard. The room was lovely as always too . We have stayed here numerous times before and will always stay here when visiting Whitby. Love to all Angie and Richard Merry . Great location and free parking a plus. All staff so friendly and want you to enjoy your stay. Room was clean and a nice size with complimentary tea and coffee - and ginger biscuits a nice touch. Breakfast was lovely with a choice for everyone. Only thing stopping five stars is that walks are on the thin size but that wouldn't stop us recommending or returning.

It’s always enjoyable staying at the hotel, I like to stay here if there’s a room available when I visit Whitby. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, I stayed in a very nice single room, and the breakfasts werevery substantial

The hotel was spotlessly clean. The bedroom was very spacious, bathroom clean and the bed extremely comfortable.Little touches elevated this hotel above the average Premier inn or Travelodge. Bathrobe and slippers, and a variety of toiletry items were made available. We particularly liked the waitress service at breakfast.We will definitely be booking again.

Had s lovely stay at the saxonville hotel we arrived early but wad able to park our car in the car park and our room were ready nice room bed comfy breakfast was nice,nice yo be waited on too would recommend this hotel to my family and friends.

During December me and the rest of the Lincolnshire Blues stop in Whitby in December. The first rule of the stay in WTFC must playing at home. As we've stayed at this hotel before, we were happy to go back. Staff were very friendly and efficient. We stayed for dinner and breakfast and was delicious. One down side, the water pressure in the shower was low. Overall though, a lovely stay.

We stayed with my mum. The hotel is old fashioned but in a good way . Great rooms , short walk from the sea , breakfast was the best I’ve ever had and the staff were brilliant, nothing too much trouble. We didn’t eat at night but I’m sure that was just as good .

Really enjoyed our stay, breakfast was fab. would stay again.Only down side light over mirror in bathroom not very bright no good for shaving or putting on make-up. Room very warm even without the radiator on but a fan was provided

Easy to book. Reception staff very welcoming. Nice n cosy seating areas near reception and the bar. Rooms are very clean. Comfy beds. Great facilities. Everything you could want in the room. Stayed for one night in November 2024, the hotel has an old fashioned look to it but it certainly doesn't look tired, everywhere looks spotless, our room was small but had everything we needed and was exceptionally clean. We had breakfast which is full waitress service and we had no complaints. Nice quiet location and was able to park on the car park. Would stay again.

The hotel staff were all very pleasant and helpful.The hotel is just a short walk along West Cliff to the pavilion and other parts of the town.The single room I occupied was very clean and well decorated. The room was comfortably heated, there was no noise from other guests or from outside and I had a very restful night.In the morning the ample breakfast was cooked lovely and the waitress service was very good.I would recommend the Saxonville Hotel.

We visit this traditional seaside hotel annually and we always enjoy staying there. The room was was beautifully clean and the beds very comfortable. The hotel is a short walk from the town and two minutes from the sea, The staff are helpful and very friendly and the breakfast delicious.I would recommend this hotel to anybody travelling to Whitby.

We enjoyed our one-night stay. The room.was spacious and spotlessly clean with lots of little touches that were lovely, e.g. dressing gown and cotton buds! Breakfast was very good and the staff very friendly nd helpful. The only slight issue was that we came back from town thinking we would have a drink in the bar before bed but there was literally no one in the bar, including staff, very quiet! So we went to our room. A lovely stay though and we would return.

Great seaside town hotel, a short walk from the beach and 15 mins walk from town.Exceedingly polite and helpful staff, room very clean with hot chocolate as well as tea and coffee.Food good.Bar is a bonus.

The hotel is a bit old fashioned (not a problem for us) but spotlessly clean. Staff all friendly helpful and smiley.Service excellent and lovely cutlery crockery shows a quality approach to loking after guests. Evening meal option well worth it and breakfast good too. Lovely quality tomatoes and nice to have table service.Location good 15min walk to Whitby a bit harder on way back up.Parking great - car park opposite.Room was very large and spacy. We had upgraded to better room. Very very clean even bath no feel of previous use (a good sign of cleansing). All facilities were there hair dryer, fan, iron etc. Bed very comfy. Mirrors every where in right place. Some extras - water, biscuits, earbuds, toiletries all supplied. Will defo atay here again when next in Whitby.Only 1 negative...proper plugs by bed ours were round pin so had to plug tech across room etc.

Excellent attentive staff. Fabulous choice of food at breakfast & evening meals. Great location.Only critique that there was an old round 3 pin plug socket next to bed which was unsuitable for connecting to my sleep apnea machine. Had to use a long lead to another plug socket. Overall a lovely stay in a fascinating area.

I came up on the Friday and spent two nights in this establishment , The Hotel was spotless, the bed was so comfortable . The food was first class especially the homemade steak pie, lastly the staff were very polite and are a credit to the Hotel.

We have stayed in the Saxonville Hotel previously, so when we were planning a weekend break in Whitby it was the obvious choice, and it did not disappoint I think it had been refurbished since our last stay and it was certainly very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the food and the staff were all very pleasant, helpful and welcoming. We also found the hotel's nearby car parking facilities useful.We really enjoyed our stay, which we hope to be repeating before too long.

This is the second time I have stayed at the saxonville hotel. And nothing has changed, the staff are still very helpful and friendly and still give a brilliant service. Clean comfortable rooms in a great spot for sight seeing in Whitby. Staff were really helpful and friendly.The breakfast is excellent, tasty and filling, and we were well looked after. The evening meal in the restaurant is okay. The food is value for money but the restaurant and bar were very quiet, so I wouldn’t recommend if you’re looking for an atmosphere. There are much more fun places to eat and drink in town.

Great stay at the Saxonville Hotel.Lovely spacious bedroom spotlessly clean and the bathroom too. Waitress service for both the plentiful breakfast and 3 course evening meal, with a really good choice. The staff are all really pleasant and nothing too much trouble. Location near sea front is spot on and a 30 minute walk into Whitby. This was our second stay and we will probably go back in the nicer weather.September 2024

I stayed bed and breakfast from Tuesday 17th to Friday 20th September and had a marvellous time. I was in a single room on the first floor, and was delighted by the cleanliness and decor. The food was really good and the staff were even better! I thoroughly recommend the Saxonville Hotel.

Fabulous stay at the Saxonville Hotel. What's not to like ? Private parking, easiest check-in ever experienced, beautiful spacious bedroom which was spotlessly clean and the bathroom was sparkling white. Complimentary robe and slippers, Restaurant offered a 3 course meal for £30 which was lovely and well worth the money, breakfast was tasty and plentiful. Nothing was too much trouble for the smiling and pleasant staff. The location is spot on with the sea front only a 5 minute walk down the road. Couldn't fault a thing and we will definitely be back for another short break once the good weather returns !

This was our second visit to the Saxonville two years apart and, thankfully,nothing had changed. Still a lovely, comfortable, very clean hotel with friendly, very efficient staff. The food was excellent with a very varied choice. Theevening menu changes daily,which is not always the case in many hotels, so there was something different to choose from each evening.Beautifully presented, cooked and served.A note of caution to less mobile visitors, there isn't a lift and there are a lot of stairs to the top floor, so check when booking. Would not hesitate in recommending a stay year and wwe wouldn't consider anywhere else in Whitby.

My friend and I shared a good sized twin room. Both room and en suite bathroom were clean, spacious and well equipped and we enjoyed a good night's sleep. There was no fan in the bathroom, which is unusual these days. The decor throughout was somewhat dated in style, though certainly not shabby. Breakfast was good although we would have preferred the more usual buffet for the cold items, rather than full waitress service.

On arrival the receptionist was very welcoming and friendly, checking in was a breeze. Our room was very spacious and clean. Lots of storageideal if you were staying for a week or more. The bed was very comfortable.The hotel lounge and bar was again spacious,you didn't feel like you were on top of other people. It was a great place to wind down a enjoy a game of cards. The seats were very comfortable and drinks were reasonably priced. Breakfast was delicious,I think the bacon was probably the best we have had.We will definitely be coming back.

We arrived at the hotel and there was an excellent car park for the car.The hotel staff were very welcoming. We were going to eat out but when we saw the menu we couldn't resist and actually had meals at the hotel both nights.The breakfast was amazing and plenty of choice.The catering staff were also excellent and we even had our newspapers delivered to our breakfast table.The rooms were spacious and very clean.This was a great find and highly recommended.

I wasn't sure what to expect as we hadn't stayed at the Saxonville Hotel but it lived up to the wonderful reviews we read online.From the friendly and efficient welcome at the desk to the excellent standard of our room we were impressed. I'm ashamed to say I tried to find something wrong and failed miserably. Our room, the lounge, restaurant were spotlessly clean and of a standard that I wouold expect but frequently don't get in a so called 4 or 5 star hotel.The breakfast was well cooked and well presented with excellent service and we were sad that we hadn't booked for the evening meal which other guests pronounced to be of a very high standard.We rounded off our first night with a very enjoyable round of drinks at the bar and relaxed in the comfortable ( and again ) spotlessly clean lounge area.We love Whitby and would definitely stay at the Saxonville Hotel in future . I have almost run out of superlatives but must say that I cannot praise this hotel enough.Just so sad that we were only staying for one night.

A last minute impulse to stay in Whitby left little choice of accommodation availability. As it turned out we were very fortunate to settle on the Saxonville Hotel.This family run hotel is astounding.Tastefully decorated and furnished. very clean and well presented.Our room was well appointed, with a proper wardrobe and bedside cabinets big enough to store clothes.Very comfortable bed, we had no problem sleepingNice clean carpet under foot, makes a refreshing change from some of the 3/4 Star accommodation we've been to over the years.Very nice lounge and bar.The Food ... Fantastic breakfast with plenty of choice, only had dinner once in the restaurant which was very good.Waitress service for all meals, very old school.All the staff were very helpful and attentive.The adjacent car park was also a bonus, having had pervious experience of parking in Whitby!Good location only a few minutes walk to the Whale BonesThe only down side was the shower water pressure which was little more than a trickle.Overall an excellent stay we would definitely recommend and will probably be making a return visit.

I have to say, having stayed in many different types of accommodation, including self catering to 5 star hotels, Saxonville is one of the best places to stay.The staff were impeccable, professional, courteous and friendly.There is a lot to say for staying in a hotel where the staff actually care about their job and want to ensure your stay is the best it can be.Beds were very comfortable, the rooms spotlessly clean, the only minor issues was the choice of coffee in our room, which was a let down and the water flow from the shower was more like a trickle, which is down to the water pressure.Meals were delicious, with ample choices from the set menu for dinner and breakfast choice was perfect no matter how big your appetite.The hotel had ample car parking 100 yards from the main entrance, where you were welcomed with clean and fresh decor, had a feeling you were in a special place. The bar was only small and choice of drinks were limited, but this is not a negative as what was on offer was acceptable.This hotel deserves to be your first choice and we will certainly make the hotel ours from here on

This was the second time we had stopped at the Saxonville and it was as good as we remembered. Everything is spotless and the rooms are well furnished and spacious. Breakfasts are excellent and the evening meal was lovely. Very well positioned on the cliffs about seven minutes from the main frontage. The staff are very friendly and efficient.

Good old fashioned Yorkshire hospitality, would highly recommend and return. This is a cosy, traditional guesthouse in a great location close to the north beach, the staff were excellent, room comfy and spotless and the breakfast very hearty, we didn’t need to eat lunch!

Went in in the morning to ask if we could leave a bag as we were staying that night no problem at all. Went to check in and were given a room at top staff realised my husband had a walking stick and tried to get us another room but unfortunately she couldn't but even still it was a perfect stay. Fantastic hotel will definitely be back even had a little sewing kit in room which was needed lol. And the breakfast absolutely fantastic .

We decided to stay overnight completely on a whim, having originally intended to just spend the day in Whitby.We chose this hotel due to the price and where it located.What a lovely hotel!Very friendly, helpful staff, beautifully clean and comfortable.Lovely lounge/bar area and the breakfast was second to none. The one thing I would change ( and this is just a preference, not a complaint at all) is the breakfast is fully waitress service.I would prefer the ",guest house" style of self service for the first course of breakfast.Apart from that, spot on and would definitely use this hotel again

This family run hotel offers the highest of standards. While not the most modern of decor etc, everything was fresh and clean. The standard room was a good size with a smallish but well-equipped bathroom, the guest area included restaurant, bar and a nice lounge area where we availed ourselves of the board games.The staff were friendly and professional and the breakfast was superb. Pre Covid We had been to this hotel a number of times and found it to be realy nice. Unfortunately on this occasion we were on the top floor and found it hard to manage the stairs. When in the room we found the wifi didn't work and the tv was intermittent to the extent that I connected the tv to the hot spot on my phone.The service at diner and breakfast however was first class as we remembered.

This is my third year on the trot staying at this hotel. Lovely quiet location and very pleasant staff. I stay in room 17 which was located at the rear of the hotel on the first floor. Nice little room with a comfortable bed and excellent facilities. All meals are table service. Breakfast is superb with all the usual breakfast options but the full English breakfast is outstanding with local supplied ingredients, very tasty indeed. Dinner is three courses with a changed menu everyday including a vegan option. The meals are freshly cooked and served by excellent pleasant staff. I have never been disappointed with the quality and selection of the meals. No doubt I will be back again next year.

We were comfortable in our room which was spacious andclean.There was alot of choice on the breakfast menu.Our evening meal on the last evening was delicious and the waiting on staff were professional and friendly.Room service was efficient.The shower in our room on the top floor had a very weak flow and patience was needed to use it,morning or evening.Apart from that, the hotel had a friendly old fashioned feel,which we liked.Tea,coffee and milk were replenished in our room each day and we were close to the seafront,less than 5 minutes walk.It was a good location and just a 20 minute walk to the town outskirts,well worth exploring.

We stayed 2 nights in the Saxonville Hotel and had a very pleasant experience. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, our room (No 7) was good value for money being clean quiet and comfortable with coffee / tea making & ensuite facilities. Just enjoyed yet another excellent stay at Saxonville Hotel.We love it here and return as often as we can as it's always maintained a high level of good service and cleanliness and food is also very good.Also very convenient to have it's own car park which is a win win for us!Only one minor niggle this time - the double room we stayed in (23) seemed to have a lack of electric sockets especially near or above the dressing table which was a minor inconvenience especially these days when we all have devices which need charging or want to plug in hair straightners/curlers for example so that is something that the management might want to look into as we could only find 2 sockets and one had the TV plugged into it and the other, the kettle!Other than that really can't fault this place and look forward to a return visit.

The deluxe room was spacious and the bed comfortable. Quite a few stairs and fire doors to negotiate which is typical of this type of hotel accommodation. The hotel was quiet and I assume far from full being mid week.Breakfast was a full service, though I think it would do no harm to let guests help themselves to fruit, cereals and similar.Staff were very friendly andhelpful at all times, always smiling.

A lovely place to stay. Lots of nice touches: silver teapots and milk jugs, real fresh flowers, chimes of a grandfather clock, excellent and friendly service from all the staff, the option of kippers for breakfast; it may only be classified as 3 star but it was better than that in many ways.

A lovely hotel.Everywhere was absolutely spotless.Bed was comfy.Room attended to daily with coffee/tea/buscuits topped up.Bed made.Bathroom wiped down and towels replace as required.Breakfast choices were plentiful and cooked beautifully. All the staff friendly and welcoming.Hotel in a nice spot in Westcliff area of Whitby with a 2 minute walk to the sea front and a 20 min walk into town.All in all an excellent place to stay.Would definately recommend to others and will be returning

Ideally situated from the centre of Whitby lovely promade walk to the harbour.Hotel room very comfortable, clean with all facilites. Staff very friendly and helpful.Really lovely restaurant with excellent menu. Would recommend as the prices are also very reasonable.

Very clean hotel, everyone there was very helpful they couldn’t do enough to help us have a pleasant stay, food was very nice would highly recommend anyone to stay there, with just a 5min walk to the beach that was also good, parking at the hotel was also very good as the traffic warden was very keen so of Road parking around that area is a must.

Stayed for two nights bed and breakfast a quick getaway.The staff were very efficient and friendly, room very clean and comfortable we were on the second not a problem except for the shower 😨. It was like having a shower using a watering can the pressure was terrible. I’m sure this can be addressed if you install a pump. The bathroom itself looked very new.Thank you a lovely stay would definitely recommend this hotel.

We stayed here for one night and were very happy with our stay. There is a convenient car park diagonally opposite the hotel entrance which was very useful. The hotel was spotlessly clean and cared for. Our room was a generous size and well equipped for our needs. The location suited us as it was in a peaceful spot, very close to the sea and only a relatively short walk from the town centre. There was also a pharmacy and convenience store about 5 minutes walk away. Breakfast was all waitress service and offered a good choice to cater for most tastes. The waiting staff were excellent. We also had a lovely evening meal here with the same 2 waitresses catering for our every need. It had a slightly old-fashioned vibe...but in a positive way.I am an extremely light sleeper and needed my ear plugs as the sound proofing isn't great, but overall it was pretty quiet so probably not an issue for most people.

Had a pleasant three nights.Good location with free parking. Good selection for breakfast and dinner.Room comfortable with a bath as well as a shower (Could have done with a few directions on how to operate the taps as it wasn't obvious).Staff very helpful and friendly.Very nice dining room and the whole hotel was very clean.TV remote was a bit temperamental and TV could have been bigger with more channels (probably available at no cost) but it didn't spoil our stay.Good hospitality tray with the option of fresh milk if required.A more pleasant view from the bedroom would have been nice but we were out most of the time.

This hotel must be the best in Whitby.From arrival to departure, the service was exceptional.Maybe it's my age but I enjoy being waited on, and this hotel takes care of it's guests.The dinner menu is changed every night with many options and the cooking is first class.Comfy rooms with towelling gowns and many breakfast options individually cooked.And a car park which is a bonus in Whitby.Excellent!!

Stayed for 1 night wished we had booked more nights!. Hotel was spotless and the service was top class . We had a deluxe twin room right on top floor which was so spacious and all facilities we needed and really comfy beds!. Didn't use the restaurant but I did use room service and this was fab. Brekfast was amazing and waitress service and the staff were all so lovely and nothing was too much trouble .There is a freeCar park for the hotel just across the road which used andwe booked this hotel for that purpose as well as it being on the west cliff and being not too far from town but far enough to be nice and quiet and it was just that . We will most definitelybe back again soon !

Firstly, we felt really welcomed by the Saxonville staff from the pre-arrival phone call to the lovely lady on reception and then to the attentive & friendly waiting staff at breakfast.I was on a motorbike trip and travelled with a friend. We booked a twin room and we've often found "Twin Rooms" to be less luxurious than you'd find a "Double". Our room at The Saxonville was plain, clean & functional and that is no criticism. As is often the case, it had two beds very close together which we had to move apart to feel comfortable but once done, we had a very pleasant stay and a great night's sleep.Breakfast was great & it was refreshing to have it served to us so beautifully. My friend described the kippers as the best he'd tasted.We were also very pleased to find The Saxonville had private parking for customers cars & our bikes.All in all, a great stay & would heartily recommend this hotel.

A lovely little hotel with very helpful and friendly staff. The rooms are a good size with plenty of storage space for your Goth band tee shirts. The hotel includes free WiFi access which is always handy.The breakfast options are quite extensive and are of good quality with locally sourced produce. The evening meal options offer a varied selections and with the residents special rates been very good value for money.The hotel is very clean and tidy and the room is cleaned and refreshed everyday during my stay.

Enjoyed our stay. Room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean as was the whole hotel. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was very nice with waitress table service which meant it was freshly prepared for you rather than being left on a buffet. Comfortable lounge to sit in downstairs plus ample parking space in the hotel car park. Only slight negative is that the shower in the bathroom was weak due to the room being on the top floor. Overall the hotel is a good family run hotel where we would stay again.

We loved this hotel.Absolutely everything was immaculate and clean. The decor was reminiscent of the late 70s/early 80s but for us that was part of its charm.It has a lounge area and bar along with a restaurant whi h served a variety of different breakfasts and dinner.The staff were very friendly and professional.It has a very family run feel.I would definitely stay here again and would definitely recommend it.

I can't praise the hotel staff enough for the care and professionalism displayed toward me. I was initially booked into a single room situated on the first floor. It was a lovely room but closely situated to the kitchens. I have a total aversion to anything remotely smelling of cooking, specifically onions, so would have found this intolerable, possibly inducing a bad physical reaction. I spoke to Karen on reception and she bent over backwards to resolve the problem, changing my room to one well away from the kitchen. Again, the room was very pleasant and comfortable.I had breakfast and dinner on each day of my stay and found the food to be very good. It's actually nice to have waitress service at breakfast. Gail and Alison were so attentive and friendly making a solo traveller like myself feel a lot less 'alone'. Wonderful service!!!On arrival I was able to park in the hotel's car park which is easily accessible. I was a little concerned about the overall 'look' of the hotel and yes, much of the decor and furnishings are somewhat dated, reminding me of my own home in the 1980's, but this was not a reflection of the comfort and friendly service afforded me throughout my stay.Would I stay here again? The Hotel was excellent and in my opinion is worthy of 4 stars, I dont understand why it is marked as 3. It was spotlessly clean and all the staff were so pleasant and welcoming. We only booked breakfast which gave a wide choice of both cold and hot foods and very good quality. It was our first visit to Whitby and we certainly will be visiting again, and definitely Booking this Hotel for our stay.

The hotel is very clean, warm, welcoming and comfortable. It is quite old fashioned but well appointed. It is a short walk into town with parking. The staff without exception were lovely and as helpful as could be. Food was served with tablecloths and silver cutlery - lovely. We would stay again. It was a last minute booking to join friends & male voice choir competing at the Pavilion for the Eskdale festival. The hotel was close to the Pavilion - walking distance & the room was really clean & comfortable. My friends had booked a restaurant for the evening so I couldn’t visit the hotel’s but if the breakfast was anything to go by I wouldn’t hesitate to give it a try. We had a very comfortable stay at The Saxonville Hotel. Out twin room was quiet, very comfortable, beds were excellent and bathroom modern and well equipped. Lovely touches with biscuits for tea, toiletries and bottled water in the room. The breakfast was very good with a wide choice in a beautifully appointed dining room. Staff were very kind and helpful. Free parking was a great help as this can be difficult to find in Whitby. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the Captain Cook statue and the center of town. I woulddefinitely recommend the Saxonville Hotel.

I was met at the Saxonvillehotel with a warm welcome and informed of the hotel layout. My room was very clean and tidy. The bed was comfy. The shower and toilet facilities were spotless. I could not fault the breakfast service in the morning again everything was spot on, the only downside I would say to the hotel it is slightly oldie worldie but very clean and tidy

I stayed for the first time at the hotel shortly before Easter.As I had to travel alone, it was good to find some single rooms on offer.The room and bathroom were very clean.The staff were friendly and efficient.Breakfast and dinner menus offered a choice of meals which were tastily cooked and quickly and efficiently served.All in all, a very enjoyable short stay.

Saxonville hotel is situated near to the harbour and town and is only a short walk away . We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and wouldhighly recommend it .Rooms were very clean and spacious with modern en suite and bath ! . We checked in for two nights and were made to feel very welcome. Our room on the first floor was bright, roomy and well furnished with an en suite bathroom with bath and shower. We did appreciate the instant hot water! Food in the table service restaurant was first class and the staff attentive and very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay here and felt the place was worthy of more than the stated 3 Stars! We will be staying here again!

Really happy with the accommodation. It was comfortable, warm, extremely clean and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The waiting staff offered an excellent service - The accommodation was a fair price and it was a two minite walk from seafront and 10 mins from harbour. My only criticism was the food, although ok, could have been much better for the price..it was very basic..and although my room was spotlessly clean, it smelled of bleech. Other than that, I would definitely go back.

Food was delicious too! 5 minutes walk to the beach on a lovely sunny morning. About 20 minutes walk downhill to the centre of town. Free private carpark . All in all excellent!

This was our 4th stay at the Saxonville & the 3rd time in the ground floor twin bedroom, room 1. The staff were all very friendly & the meals were as delicious as usual. My husband always looks forward to Fortunes kippers at breakfast when available. Highly recommend this hotel with easy parking.

This was not the first time staying at the Saxonville. It is still a warm comfortable hotel with good service and fab food. We did DBB, and had excellent service with all meals. What stands out is that breakfast is all served at your table. No queueing up for a lukewarm breakfast under lamps. A big thank-you to the ladies working in the restaurant and serving our meals. I only stayed overnight at the Saxonville, with my son, as we had traveled up for a football match.We had a twin room, which was very comfortable and had all the amenities you would expect.We did not have an evening meal, but we did have breakfast and oh boy, that was excellent.So, room, staff, food were all very good.A great place to stay.It has to be a 10, for everything.

All the staff from the reception to the cleaners were exceptionally cheerful, polite and helpful. They should be commended by the owners.Apart from some of the furniture being a little dated I cannot really fault the accommodation at all. The hotel was very clean and tidy and the food was very good. The staff were friendly and they even let us check in early. The location was perfect for us and very close to the harbour & about 15 minutes stroll with plenty of pubs and restaurants. If you’re a bit unsteady on your feet I would recommend a taxi back up the hill. For us it was 10/10 and would definitely stop there again.

A very traditional family ran hotel. The breakfast was lovely and the room was very clean. The staff were warm and welcoming. Might not be suitable for families with young children or those wanting a boutique experience. A mature couple would love it, it’s a very quiet relaxed hotel.

My husband and I enjoyed a lovely overnight stay at the Saxonville Hotel. The room was warm, comfortable and spotless, as was the rest of the hotel. The cooked breakfast was superb in an extremely pleasant dining area; white tablecloth, silverware and fresh white crockery. The waiting staff were very friendly and polite, and the Taylor’s of Harrogate freshly brewed pot of tea simply made it! Thank you, we would definitely recommend.

Beautiful room, large and spacious, the bathroom was amazingmassive with a bath and all the little touches. Robe and slippers, a fan, extra blanket in the wardrobe, loads of pillow on the bed. Quiet area, relaxing room. Private parking. Breakfast was lovely, table service and everyone was so polite and couldn't do enough for you. The smell of fresh lillies when you first walk in is a great touch too! Amazing stay. Next time I'm in whitby this will be the hotel I check availability on first.

Meal was delicious so was the breakfast the next day. Both were waitress service. Room was clean and bed was comfy. There is also private parking opposite the hotel. Would definitely stay again

We stayed at the Saxonville Hotel for 4 nights and had a wonderful stay. The hotel was very relaxing and made a special birthday for my partner. It had a nostalgic feel, which we loved. The staff wereprofessional and friendly. The breakfast was lovely and we had an evening meal, which was excellent value for money. The room was spacious and comfortable. Free parking was a bonus. Near to the town centre and all amenities. We have already booked for next year and we can see why it is people's choice when visiting Whitby.

Not going to write a long review just going to say from the arrival nothing was to much trouble for the staff helpful and friendly, the room was spotless every thing you needed, food at breakfast and evening was well presented and lovely, the little bar was nice to sit at night and chill. A lovely & well run hotel we would definitely recommend when staying in Whitby. Every member of the hotel team were so friendly & vey good at doing everything they can for their guests. The room was of a good size, clean and more than adequate.The parking was excellent and as Whitby town was so busy on the Saturday evening we are in the hotel restaurant and we could not fault the food along with the excellent service.When In Whitby I would definitely recommend staying here, very very good.

I needed to get away and recharge my batteries. The Saxonville was the perfect place to do this. Situated on a quiet street close to the cliff top, friendly welcoming staff and breakfasts second to none. Ideally located for exploring the coast and the moors.

We booked this hotel for an overnight stop on the return leg of a journey to north east England. We were able to secure a place in the hotel's private car park. The hotel is quite large with a pleasant old fashioned air to it. We had dinner and breakfast in a very large dining room with everything by waitress service. The food was excellent and cooked to order.Our room was a reasonable size with an ensuite bathroom. Being used to a king size double we found the standard double to be on the small size; we would book a twin for our next visit

Such a pleasant surprise to have waitress service for breakfast, which was a good meal with fish options too. All splendid.Overall we left a good impression.If we were to point out anything that may help improve future service it would be that the radiator in our room did not appear to be capable of being turned off for 2 hours in the evening and one hour in the morning. We tried, setting it it zero, but it still came on around the times indicated.

My mum and I stayed at the Saxonville Hotel in September for three nights dinner, bed and breakfast. The hotel was excellent and we were well looked after from start to finish. All the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and the service was friendly and attentive throughout. It was our first visit to the Saxonville, but won't be our last.The hotel is situated close to Whitby centre with wonderful views of the coast line just a few yards at the end of the road.On arrival we were warmly greeted and shown to our room.Our room was light and airy and spotlessly clean.Several nice little touches were included such as robes and slippers and the first time in any hotel a teapot to make your tea instead of having to use your cup.Comfortable bed with sparkling white bedding,we both had a good night's sleep.Our stay was rounded off with an excellent breakfast the following morning.Breakfast was waitress service, which was exemplary.Thank you to all the staff that made our stay so enjoyable.

Had a great short stay, staff were very friendly. Room clean though did notice a minor stain on duvet cover but otherwise good with plenty of storage so you can unpack and put things away rather than live out of your bag. Bathroom looked brand new, used both bath and shower. Could comfortably lie stretched out in the bath (5ft 10in) and shower had good pressure.Food was great, recommend the salmon and egg muffin for breakfast. Waitresses were lovely and never had to wait long for food.Location is atop a hill so despite the beach and harbour being within walking distance you'll be climbing hills or stairs to return by foot but nothing is too far. The beach is about 5 minutes from door to sand, the waterfront approx 15 minutes.The only weakness was the very limited parking, a very small carpark with no lines, consequently poor quality parking and wasted space as a result. Park and ride bus does stop nearby however. Wi-Fi if you need it is terrible though having spoken to a local that seems to be the whole area.All in all I enjoyed my stay and will look forward to visiting again.

Second visit to this hotel and wouldn't stay anywhere else......The room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean however a fridge in the room and Air conditioning would have been an amazing addition but that is by no means a complaint.Terrific location for the Pavillion and a nice walk into the town make this our ideal hotel.A very special mention to the ladies serving breakfast,what a fantastic experience and the breakfast was magnificent,anything you would like is on the menu and nothing was too much trouble.We have already booked again for next year.Thank you all for a wonderful stay.

Only stayed 1 night but would definitely return. From check in to check out nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were spacious and clean with hairdryer, fan, tea/coffee, dressing gowns and slippers. We had dinner which was lovely and the choice at breakfast was excellent. The high quality of dining arrangements and professional friendly staff make dining a real pleasure and add to our holiday even though we only have breakfasts as dinners are too late for our festival events. The rooms are nicely furnished and equipped. There are few establishments like this now with such a high quality traditional level of environment and service.

This was our third visit this year and won’t be our last. The hotel is very welcoming and spotlessly clean everywhere. All the staff are lovely especially Alison and the waiting staff. The food is equally as good if not better than any restaurant with plenty of choice. Why would you eat anywhere else if staying there. Lots of choice for breakfast too. See you again soon!

A two night stay whilst attending the Whitby Regatta Weekend as a solo traveller.I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Saxonville.What a fantastic family owned hotel, everything was spot on, the reception desk staff very friendly, welcoming and efficient.Saxonville has a very traditional English seaside hotel feel, which is such a welcome change.My single room (Room 4) was lovely, some might class as quaint, but it was spotlessly clean, and comfortable.It had all the space I needed. A nice comfortable bed, firm but perfect for me.Complimentary tea & coffee provided, fresh milk available upon request. The bathroom was also very clean, with the added addition of a bath, superb shower pressure, plenty of very hot water and complimentary shower gel products etc... provided. With daily room servicing.There was a very good choice for breakfast (full at table service) alongside the option of a traditional full yorkshire cooked breakfast that would set you up for the day.The additional option of an evening dinner menu (changed daily) with a varied menu and food quality worthy of at least 4 stars! Full table d'hote service, and reasonably priced. The restaurant staff were friendly, efficient, and attentive and couldn’t do enough for you. The same during breakfast. It felt a bit like stepping back in time, but to all the lovely touches that seem to have got a bit lost along the way in today's modern society.The hotel is a 5-minute walk away from the Whale Bone Arch. Very close to the beachand about a 15-minute walki into the centre of Whitby, situated in a nice quiet side street close to the West Cliff Beach. The hotel has its own small private car park available on a first come basis, which was a godsend for my stay during Whitby Regatta Weekend.The location is perfect, and the incredible views just a short stroll from the hotel are fantastic.I really enjoyed this hotel, very peaceful, spotlessly clean, and lovely, friendly staff.The staff make this hotel, lovely personalities, excellent service, well done everyone at Saxonville.The hotel was very reasonably priced. I would highly recommend this hotel, and I look forward to staying with you upon my next visit to Whitby.

Quiet location, wonderful room (No 2). Good food & all served to the table, including cereals, juices & toast. Service at dinner could have been a little more attentive (Ordered wine did not arrive until after starting main course, regardless of asking 3 times). However, all in all, this is a great family run hotel with a good atmosphere and will certainly return.

My Husband and I spent one night here and it was lovely. Of course we had to pick the wettest day Whitby had seen in a long time but because of the atmosphere at the Saxonville it was just perfect. The staff were so warm and courteous, we arrived an hour early and were invited to our room by the very lovely receptionist. The room was really nice and immaculate, we stayed in the deluxe double,room 22, beware though there are a 2 flights of stairs but they aren't huge. We had a 3 course evening meal priced at £28 per person which was again very nice and a coffee to finish included in the price. The staff waiting on were again so friendly and helpful. Our room was on the cold side but my Husband told reception and she immediately took an oil filled radiator up to our room as the heating wasn't on at that point. I am unwell so I feel the cold, I might add. Breakfast was served the next morning between 7.30 am and 9.30 am. We both had fresh fruit salad, toast, tea amd a full English. It was the best breakfast we have eaten out of all the hotels and B&B's we have stayed in, a heary portion and beautifully cooked. Thank you Saxonville, we will return.

We had a lovely four nights in the Saxonville Hotel. Our deluxe twin room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Only disappointment was we could not have a walk in shower as the en suite was rather small. Our meals were delicious with good portions. Thank you to all the staff who were very pleasant to us.

We spent 3 nights here. It’s about a 15-20 minute walk into town but wouldn’t recommend wearing heels to do so. On our last night we had dinner at the hotel and couldn’t fault a thing (the breakfasts were great too. Would definitely stay again.

Our room was pleasant, however bathroom small and shower difficult to get into for people with compromised movement. Yes, Saxonville is your British seaside hotel, but, it stops there!3* rating? Sorry but food and staff lift that up a few grades.Not many hotels in this countryof thus size change menus every night.(We've stayed in many, ChateauLake Louise,BanffSprings etc,)Dining room service second to none. ALison and co, good menu, elevate hotel from standard Whitby offering of 'fish and chips' round every corner.Bonus is parking, yes walk down road to town but what awaits you in the dining roomon return worth the visit.Alison like a mother hen, looks after the dining room with effortless efficiency.Lee, good behind the bar , if you'reex service...you'rein.Would recommend any day of the week.

However, if it was bags or suitcase your more than welcome to ask us and we be more then happy to help to carry anything for you. If you do decided to stay in the future we also have room on the bottom floor and if you book over the phone directly there be a possibility we be able to place you on the bottom floor room where there is no stairs. We have stayed here before ,so really knew what to expect.From early parking in the private car park to checking into a nice clean double.Really good set up ,leaving your keys when you nip out and picking them back up at reception before midnight.Comfortable bed,all mod consin room, though wish we could of booked the 4 poster bedroom when we walked by it and saw inside. Next time hopefully.Breakfast great set up ,silver service ,waitresses attending to your orders all served fresh and hot , well done all staff.Will be staying again as the location is on the north side of Whitby and an easy stroll to the harbour.Thankyou Saxonville

Clean and comfortable, a lovely breakfast and pleasant friendly staff. It is a two minute walk from the coastline with paths down to the beach. A 10 minute walk along the cliff top takes you to the town centre.

The Saxonville Hotel is a quality, old fashioned (in the nicest way), family run hotel. I stayed 5 nights with my 92 year old Dad. The staff were really kind and caring and so attentive at meal times. They obviously wanted our stay to be as comfortable as possible. The hotel is situated in a quiet part of Whitby, near the sea so swims are possible :) The car park is a huge asset. The fan in my bedroom was essential in hot weather since windows are small but everything in the room is very comfortable and there are helpful, thoughtful extras. The breakfasts are delicious and great value. Evening meals were rather expensive for what was on offer but there are plenty of restaurants in Whitby and an excellent Chinese just down the road. All in all a very pleasant experience thank you!!

The Saxonville prides itselkf on being a traditional post-war hotel. We enjoyed our stay. he staff were friendly, the service good, the breakfast sustaining, and the two rooms comfortable. Even though the car park was fuil at 5 p.m. we had no difficulty parking on the street through the Local authority disc system. We did not eat in the hotel - possibly a mistake as alternative places were a fair walk distant and we did not want to lose our parking space. As experienced travellers the room pricing we considered the room pricing rathger on the high saqise.

This hotel was in a good position on West Cliff with a 10 minute walk to the harbour.The rooms and public areas were spotless.The room was big and the bathroom was also spotlessly clean. The shower wasn't very powerful, but didn't stop us from enjoying our stay. Free parking was also a bonus. Highly recommend

Stayed at the Saxonville with a friend for the weekend while attending the Whitby 60s Music Festival.Both of our single rooms were perfectly equipped and very clean.Good choice of food for breakfast and the staff could not have been more helpful.Would definitely stay here again and hope to return to Whitby next year.

Just had a lovely 6 nights stay at the Saxonville Hotel and once again excellent service and food. Accommodation was very comfortable and spacious with everything you need, rooms are cleaned and refreshed everyday. Breakfast and dinner is all waiter service and the staff are very friendly and accommodating, excellent choice of meals with a residents discount, three course dinner including coffee is outstanding at this price. This is my second stay here and I will be returning in the not to distant future. Good parking, no smoking and a nice quiet spot just a short walk to Whitby centre. Highly recommended.

The hotel was excellent.The room was spotless with all facilities and the staff were friendly and really helpful and it was lovely being served breakfast rather than having to wander around in the morning trying to find what we wanted to eat.The only difficulty was that, being of a more mature age, it was impossible for us to carry our cases up to our room as there was no lift. We knew that there was this problem after we had booked but I'm sure how well it was highlighted in the hotel information before the booking was made. We had to leave our cases in the car and take necessities in holdalls and carrier bags to the room as our cases were large as we had been away for 2 weeks and were on our way home.The one drawback in an otherwise lovely small friendly hotel.

I stayed here as my friend was getting married. The hotel staff was extremely attentive and when I phoned to tell them I had left my earrings in the room they were posted to me and I received them the next day. I would definitely stay here again.

Comfortable hotel near to the centre with a massive bonus of a car park. Quiet area of town. What really makes it though are the staff. Couldn’t have done more to accommodate 3 bikes locked up securely and every staff member is delightful. Cracking breakfast too.

We stayed here recently on a 3 night break as a group of 5. Hotel room very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Hotel decor looks a little dated but that is a minor observation. We had a very comfortable stay again.The room was spotless and the dining room beautifully kept.We had excellent service and we will definitely return to the Saxonville hotel on our next visit to Whitby.

Great little find, only a 5 minute walk along the sea front into town. Private parking opposite, super clean rooms and lovely breakfast and evening meal. Friendly and welcoming staff, what more could you ask for.

This hotel is a welcoming, oldie worldie place. Impeccably clean, comfortable and with super friendly staff.Food for breakfast and dinner was delicious.I stay in many hotel around the world, which are impersonal and to walk into a ‘family’ hotel was so refreshing and relaxing.I’m sure I will be back.

The staff make this hotel excell. They are so friendly and efficient. It was good not to have to worry about losing your keys when out and about too. Everything was very clean. The breakfast was also excellent. My friend and I will definitely be staying again, but fingers are crossed for a room on a lower floor as we were based on the top floor and I was ready for collapsing after all the flights of stairs and a night of dancing. No trouble for young stuff. 🙂

The Hotel is a gem of a find, great location, great rooms and a warm welcome from all of the staff. The breakfast is very good quality and the deluxe room was very impressive. Inside the hotel is has a very grand feel which is lost on modern hotels. We will definitely visit again

We've stayed at Saxonville hotel twice before, and it has always been a good experience.The food and service fantastic,Also it has a decent size free car park.When we come to Whitby we wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else!

My daughter and I stayed for 1 night and would definitely recommend. The location is great - a nice walk along the beach into town - and the car park is a huge bonus. The silver service breakfast was a highlight! We would stay here again.

My son and I stayed in 2 single rooms for 1 night on 11th April. What a little gem this place is!!It’s like stepping back in time, but in a good way.Comfortable, warm, spotlessly clean, friendly staff & a lovely breakfast!What more do you need.Just be aware it’s about a 15 minute walk from the town, but it’s a lovely walk.Would definitely stay here again.

What a pleasure it was to stay here.Staff were friendly & welcoming. Spotless hotel. Our room was a good size, lovely & bright. This was my second visit and this time I was accompanied by my teenage grandsons.I am also returning in August.My first visit, last year was my first holiday travelling alone, since losing my husband.All the staff were so friendly and helpful, it gave me complete confidence to return and I have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to everyone.The hotel itself is spotless and very comfortable. I always book for bed, breakfast and evening meal because the food is excellent.Breakfast is a vast choice to suit all tastes and dinner always has plenty of choices, even for me, a none meat eater.Thankyou so much to the staff and I look forward to seeing you in August.I would give 10 star rating if I could.
